A decade following robotics across consumer, prosumer, and industrial segments gives Ezra a calibrated sense of which specs translate to real-world value and which are marketing scaffolding.

The problem that kept coming up was simple and maddening: the same search query — say, 'best robotic arm for small manufacturing' — returned either toy-grade hobby content or six-figure integrator sales pitches, with almost nothing in between. That gap is not a content accident; it reflects how the industry talks to itself. Vendors segment their audiences aggressively, so a $4,000 cobot from Universal Robots and a $200 desktop arm from Dobot rarely appear in the same editorial frame, even though the buyer considering one is often the same person who will eventually buy the other. American Robotic exists to collapse that artificial wall and give every tier of buyer — from the high school robotics coach to the plant manager pricing out a palletizing cell — a single place where the full market is visible and honestly mapped.

What I bring to this is not a workshop full of hardware but something arguably more useful for a buying decision: a systematic habit of reading across the entire published record on a product before forming a view. That means manufacturer datasheets and published torque curves, but also the owner forums where people report what breaks first, the YouTube teardowns that reveal build quality the spec sheet never mentions, and the independent lab reviews that stress-test claims against real load conditions. Owners consistently report patterns that no single reviewer catches alone — and aggregating those patterns is the core analytical skill this site runs on. I am not neutral about quality. I have opinions, and I state them plainly.
